Paju City is holding a "Non-Tax Revenue Delinquency Collection Strategy Meeting" on the 25th in the City Hall Business Room to increase revenue and expand independent financial resources.
On the 25th, Paju City in Gyeonggi Province held a 'Non-Tax Revenue Delinquency Collection Strategy Report Meeting' at the city hall business room to increase revenue and secure independent financial resources, the city announced on the 26th.
Presided over by Vice Mayor Kim Jin-gi, the meeting was attended by heads of seven major departments responsible for non-tax revenue imposition. They discussed ▲ causes and current status of delinquencies ▲ key initiatives to improve collection rates ▲ and efficient management plans for delinquent amounts.
As of the end of July this year, Paju City imposed 110.3 billion KRW in non-tax revenue and collected 67.3 billion KRW, an increase of 16.8 billion KRW compared to the same period last year. This is attributed to the departments' efforts to collect payments within deadlines, continuous encouragement for payment, and proactive delinquency enforcement.
In particular, the introduction of a mobile license plate seizure pre-notification system for delinquent vehicles in the first half of the year has made it easier to notify owners of vehicles with unpaid fines in advance, resulting in an increase in voluntary payments before seizure, greatly aiding in delinquency collection.
The city plans to operate an intensive delinquency cleanup period from September to November in the second half of the year to focus on collecting delinquent amounts. During this period, the city will intensify enforcement measures such as targeted seizure of delinquent vehicles and seizure of movable property through home searches of high-amount delinquents. At the same time, for delinquent taxpayers without assets or payment ability, the city will guide them on collection deferral or installment payments, thereby distinguishing between collectible delinquent amounts and those subject to deferred cleanup, aiming for efficient collection.
Vice Mayor Kim Jin-gi of Paju City said, “Although the collection environment is negative due to the prolonged economic downturn, non-tax revenue, along with local taxes, is an important independent financial resource used for enhancing residents' welfare and regional development. We will strive to minimize delinquent amounts and improve collection rates by implementing efficient collection procedures.”
