Former Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok, Advocate of 'Two-State Theory,' Reported for National Security Law Violation

Submission of Complaint Against People Power Party Lawmaker Lee Jong-bae

Former Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok, who advocated the 'two-state theory' at the 6th anniversary ceremony of the September 19 Joint Declaration, has been reported for violating the National Security Act.

On the 25th, the Security Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Lee Jong-bae, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council from the People Power Party, had submitted a complaint against former Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok for violating the National Security Act.

At the keynote speech during the 6th anniversary ceremony of the September 19 Joint Declaration held on the 19th, former Chief of Staff Im stated, "Let's not unify," and "Let's accept the objective reality and embrace two states."

In the complaint, Councilor Lee claimed, "Former Chief of Staff Im's statements align with Kim Jong-un's two-state theory and are a blatantly unconstitutional idea that violates Articles 3 and 4 of the Constitution," adding, "The two-state theory causes social conflict and risks justifying the development and use of nuclear weapons, thereby threatening the nation's existence, security, and the basic order of liberal democracy."
