On the 21st, while more than 200mm of heavy rain poured down in Busan, a sinkhole phenomenon (large ground collapse) occurred on a road, causing two trucks to fall in.
According to the Busan Fire Headquarters, at around 8:45 a.m. that day, a large ground collapse measuring approximately 10 meters wide, 5 meters long, and 8 meters deep occurred on a road in Sasang-gu, Busan. As a result of the accident, a drainage vehicle from the Busan Fire Headquarters, which was supporting drainage on the road at the time, fell into the sinkhole, and a 5-ton truck passing right next to it also fell into the hole.
The Busan Fire Headquarters stated that there were no casualties from the accident. The police are currently controlling the area around the accident site. The local district office is investigating the exact cause while managing the accident recovery.
In Sasang-gu, ground collapse incidents have continued to occur this year. On the 21st of last month, a large sinkhole about 5 meters in diameter and 3 meters deep occurred in Gamjeon-dong, Sasang-gu, and there were three ground collapses in the same month alone.
There was also one incident each in April, May, and July of this year.
