Gyeonggi Province, Daejin University, and the Gyeonggi Carbon Neutral Support Center announced on the 12th that they held the "Climate Action, Right Now!!" (2024 Gyeonggi Province Traveling Carbon Neutral Forum, Northern Edition) at Daejin University in Pocheon on the 10th.
This forum brought together over 200 participants, including university students, activists from northern Gyeonggi, and residents interested in climate issues, to share climate action and carbon neutrality practice cases aimed at realizing carbon neutrality for future generations and Gyeonggi residents.
Daejin University is fulfilling its role in responding to the climate crisis and operates the nation's first Carbon Neutral Support Centers in Pocheon City, Yeoncheon County, and Gapyeong County to share and solve these issues together with the local community.
The forum began with a greeting from Lim Young-moon, president of Daejin University, who pledged to faithfully serve as a bridgehead for carbon neutrality practice activities in response to the carbon neutrality policies of Gyeonggi Province and local governments.
Presenter Shim Jae-sung, head of the Gyeonggi Carbon Neutral Support Center, delivered a presentation titled "Climate Action Opportunity Income: Good Rewards for Good Actions for the Earth" (The Era of Great Transformation, Climate Action in Gyeonggi Province Right Now), and invited speaker Julian Quintart, EU Climate Action Goodwill Ambassador, shared hopeful and motivating stories based on his experiences and know-how in practicing carbon neutrality ("Making Noise for the Environment").
In the Green Talk Show, Shim Jae-sung, Julian Quintart, Professor Noh Byung-ryeol of Daejin University, Yeom In-jeong, CEO of Hansarang Education Community, activist Jeong Yoon-kyung, Yeo Woo-seok, team leader of the Construction Environment Technology Research Institute at Shinhan University, and student Han So-hee of Daejin University participated to exchange opinions on carbon neutrality by generation and region.
Furthermore, starting with this Northern Edition, the forum will continue with the Southwestern Edition on the 24th at Ajou University featuring Tyler Rasch, WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) ambassador, and the Southeastern Edition on October 8th (Tuesday) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies with EU Climate Action Goodwill Ambassador Julian Quintart. The Gyeonggi Traveling Carbon Neutral Forum will be held three times in total, engaging future generations and residents interested in carbon neutrality.
