An undocumented foreign man was apprehended by police while fleeing with his clothes covered in blood.
On September 2, the National Police Agency released a video titled "Man Who Fled After Getting Out of Taxi: 'There Was Blood on His Clothes'" on its official YouTube channel. According to the footage, in July in Nam-gu, Ulsan, a foreign male passenger’s taxi stopped by a police substation. However, as soon as the taxi arrived, the passenger abruptly got out and ran away, leaving behind his companion.
Finding this suspicious, police officers pursued him, causing the foreign man to panic and run even faster. The police, noticing a large amount of bloodstains on his clothes, judged there was suspicion of a crime and continued the chase. The man, who was hiding behind a building, was eventually apprehended by the police. It was later revealed that he had been living in Korea illegally for three years and fled out of fear that his status would be discovered. The bloodstains on his clothes were the result of self-inflicted injuries during an argument with an acquaintance inside the taxi. After providing first aid for his severely bleeding finger with the help of emergency paramedics, police arrested him for illegal stay.
Netizens commented, "I hope all hidden undocumented immigrants are caught," "Police officers, please always stay safe," and "Thank you for your hard work."
