The "Pet Registration Fee Support Project," implemented for the first time this year, allows any dog owner with an address in Goryeong County to apply. The registration fee of 40,000 KRW per dog is covered for up to three dogs per person.

Owners can visit Rafa Animal Hospital, the designated animal registration agency located in Daegaya-eup, with their pets to apply and register immediately. Registration is free until the allocated quota is exhausted.

In cases where it is difficult to visit the animal hospital with a pet, such as for yard dogs (large breeds), and if there are five or more dogs eligible for registration in a village, the "Visiting Animal Registration Service" will also be provided. By applying at the local town office, a veterinarian from the animal hospital will visit the village directly.

Goryeong County is currently operating the "2024 Voluntary Animal Registration Reporting Period (August 5 to September 30)" and the "Intensive Crackdown Period (October 1 to October 31)." Registration of dogs over two months old is a legal obligation, and those who register during the voluntary reporting period will be exempt from fines.

County Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "Animal registration is the first step toward establishing a mature pet culture. We hope that stable implementation of animal registration will minimize the occurrence of lost or abandoned animals and foster a responsible pet ownership culture."
