Ulsan Ulju County announced on the 3rd that it will relocate all electric vehicle charging facilities within the county office building to above ground.
This relocation is being carried out to alleviate the concerns of Ulju County residents following recent electric vehicle fires in Cheongna, Incheon, and to prevent electric vehicle fire accidents.
Electric vehicle fires are difficult to handle when they occur and can quickly escalate into large-scale fires, causing increasing anxiety.
Accordingly, Ulju County will either remove or relocate the electric vehicle charging facilities located in the basement of the office building to above ground, while also seeking measures to prevent and respond to fires.
Currently, Ulju County operates a total of 19 electric vehicle charging facilities within the office building, including 3 rapid chargers and 16 slow chargers. Of these, the 16 outdated slow chargers in the basement will be removed, and 2 rapid chargers will be relocated to above ground.
Once the relocation is complete, a total of 3 rapid chargers, including the one already located above ground, will be in operation, and 8 additional rapid chargers will be installed, bringing the total to 11.
An Ulju County official stated, "We will further strengthen inspections of electric vehicles and charging facilities and expand safety measures to prevent electric vehicle accidents," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that Ulju County residents can use electric vehicles with peace of mind."
Ulju County is promoting the relocation of the government office's electric vehicle charging facilities to the ground level.
