In Icheon, Gyeonggi, a man in his 20s wielded a weapon against his mother... Arrested in the act

On the 31st, the Icheon Police Station in Gyeonggi announced that they have arrested and are investigating a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of assaulting his mother with a weapon (attempted parricide).

Mr. A is accused of wielding a weapon against his mother, Ms. B, who is in her 50s, at an apartment in Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, around 10 a.m. the previous day.

It was reported that Mr. A struck Ms. B once on the neck from behind with the weapon. Police who responded to the report arrived at the scene and arrested Mr. A in the act.

Mr. A has an intellectual disability and a history of receiving treatment for a mental illness. Ms. B, who was injured, is in a condition that is not life-threatening.

The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the incident with Mr. A and others involved.
