30s Son Revealed to Have Suffered from Depression Regularly

A man suspected of strangling his mother to death while suffering from depression has been arrested by the police.

The Seoul Dongjak Police Station announced on the 22nd that they have arrested and are investigating a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of parricide.

Mr. A is accused of strangling his mother, Ms. B, who was in her 60s, to death at an apartment in Sangdo-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, at around 2:20 a.m. the previous day.

The police responded to a report from Ms. B and, together with firefighters at the scene, performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other treatments on her, but she was transported to a nearby hospital where she ultimately passed away.

Police investigations revealed that Mr. A had been suffering from depression. It was confirmed that he had no prior criminal record related to accompanying offenses.

The police stated that they will investigate the detailed circumstances of the incident and plan to request an arrest warrant.
