GS Engineering & Construction is establishing a Smart City Research Center at KAIST.

원본보기 아이콘On the 22nd, GS Engineering & Construction signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KAIST at its headquarters in Gran Seoul, Jongno-gu, Seoul, to establish a cooperative relationship for mutual development of leading smart city technologies. Attendees included Huh Yoon-hong, CEO of GS Engineering & Construction, Lee Kwang-hyung, President of KAIST, and other officials.
The KAIST Smart City Research Center will conduct research on core technologies necessary for future cities. It also plans to build a global industry-academia network in collaboration with leading overseas universities.
Through this agreement, phased research will begin starting with data collection necessary for smart city construction. The research will mainly focus on technologies such as optimal site selection for large public facilities like hospitals and transportation in new town development, urban-scale traffic simulation technologies, and analysis of the impact of climate change on urban economies and key infrastructure.
GS Engineering & Construction plans to develop the technologies required to complete smart cities throughout the planning, construction, and operation phases of new town development projects in Vietnam.
A GS Engineering & Construction official stated, "Through industry-academia cooperation with KAIST, we have laid the foundation for the development of smart city technologies," adding, "We will promote future city development focused on improving the quality of life for urban residents."
