The Ministry of Education has received 146 review copies for the certification evaluation of the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Digital Textbooks' planned for introduction next year.


On the 22nd, the Ministry of Education announced that the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, the institutions responsible for the certification evaluation of AI digital textbooks, received applications for certification evaluation of AI digital textbooks from 21 applicants, totaling 146 review copies, between the 19th and 21st.


The Ministry of Education had previously announced that AI digital textbooks would be introduced next year for mathematics, English, and information subjects in grades 3-4 of elementary school, grade 1 of middle school, and grade 1 of high school. Accordingly, existing textbook publishers and edutech companies formed consortia to develop AI digital textbooks to be applied next year and submitted them for certification evaluation.

The AI digital textbooks submitted for certification evaluation are categorized by school level and subject as follows: ▲16 types of elementary school English ▲48 types of elementary school mathematics ▲10 types of middle school English ▲11 types of middle school mathematics ▲13 types of middle school information ▲20 types of high school Common English 1 and Common English 2 ▲18 types of high school Common Mathematics 1 and Common Mathematics 2 ▲10 types of high school information.


The Ministry of Education plans to conduct a preliminary survey and main evaluation in August and September, review revised versions in October and November, and announce the final successful candidates through the official gazette on November 29.
