A military chaplain with the rank of major was caught installing cameras in the women's restroom inside a military base church and has been reported to the police.

On the 21st, the Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency announced that they have opened an investigation without detention into Major A, a military chaplain at the Army Comprehensive Administration School in Yeongdong, Chungbuk, on suspicion of attempted filming using a camera under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act. Major A is accused of installing three cameras inside the women's restroom of the church located within his military base.

On the 2nd, a civilian female church member attending a retreat at the church discovered three cameras installed inside the trash bin within the stall while cleaning the women's restroom. The church is located outside the base and is used by military families and civilians alike.

After the cameras were found and an internal investigation began within the base, Major A reportedly confessed to his superior that he had installed the cameras.

According to regulations requiring that sexual violence incidents occurring within military bases be transferred to civilian investigative agencies, the military handed over related materials concerning the cameras to the police on the 12th. A police official stated, "No significant footage was found on the cameras, but we will conduct forensic analysis to check for any signs of deletion."
