The city of Busan will conduct a 'Civil Defense Evacuation Drill' across the entire city for 20 minutes starting at 2:00 PM on the 22nd.
This drill is being held to help citizens familiarize themselves with emergency procedures in preparation for an air raid situation.
The drill will proceed in the order of air raid alert issuance, alert issuance, and alert cancellation, and all Busan citizens are required to participate.
First, when the air raid alert is issued at 2:00 PM, all citizens must evacuate to the nearest civil defense shelter, such as an underground parking lot, for 15 minutes and listen to the drill instructions broadcasted on site.
Public institutions, businesses, multi-use facilities, schools, apartments, and other organizations will relay the drill situation to citizens through their own internal broadcasting networks, such as radios.
Civil defense shelters can be found on 'Naver', 'Kakao', 'Tmap', 'National Disaster Safety Portal', and the 'Safety Didimdol App'. One pilot shelter will be operated in each district to provide education on emergency procedures.
To secure emergency lanes for military operation vehicles and emergency rescue vehicles, vehicles traveling in certain controlled sections must pull over to the shoulder for 5 minutes and listen to the drill instructions via radio (FM 103.7 MHz, KBS1 Radio) under police direction.
Traffic control will be enforced in a total of six sections, including Gaegum Intersection in Busanjin-gu.
In a total of twelve sections, including Yeongju-dong Intersection in Jung-gu, a 15-minute fire truck passage drill will be conducted alongside the main drill.
After the alert is issued at 2:15 PM, citizens may resume movement while maintaining a state of readiness, and from 2:20 PM, the alert will be lifted and everyone can return to their daily routines.
Kim Kyunghee, head of the city's Safety Policy Division, said, "This drill is being conducted to help citizens familiarize themselves with emergency procedures in preparation for an air raid situation. We ask for your active participation and cooperation in the evacuation and vehicle movement controls carried out during the drill."
