Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will operate the 'Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Trail Welcome Center' and hold various pop-up events to foster local brand commercial districts and spread the value of small brands.
The Gongneung-dong Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Trail Welcome Center (90, Gongneung-ro 27-gil, Nowon-gu, 1st floor), which opened last May, is a 'commercial district hub space' prepared by the district office. It serves as a complex space where commercial district information, various exhibitions, and events are held, as well as a resting place for residents, merchants, and visitors alike. It is open free of charge to anyone from Monday to Sunday, 1 PM to 9 PM, without holidays.
In celebration of the August vacation season, the newly renovated Welcome Center will operate various exhibitions and events from August to October under the new concept of 'Airport and Duty-Free Shop before embarking on a trip to Gongneung Forest Trail.'
First, it will exhibit business items of ▲small brands with the charm of local commercial districts ▲hold special events such as talks planned and operated directly by merchants every Saturday ▲one-day classes ▲flea markets, etc. These will be operated monthly with themes such as workshops (accessories), desserts, and restaurants, and discount coupons usable at stores will also be provided.
In September, various discount events will be held to activate consumption within the Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Trail local brand commercial district. Through participatory events such as SNS subscriptions and presenting same-day receipts, paper vouchers usable at stores within the commercial district will be given to consumers to encourage consumption.
Discount promotions will also be conducted in cooperation with the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation and BC Card. The promotion runs from September 1 until the budget is exhausted. When registering 'My Tag' within the BC Paybook app and making a payment of 20,000 KRW or more with a BC Card, a discount of 7,000 KRW will be applied. Details about participating stores and the discount event will be posted on the official commercial district Instagram and the district office website.
Lastly, to nurture prospective entrepreneurs, the 'Youth Work Experience Program' will be promoted in connection with the Nowon Youth Work-Life Center. Unemployed youths aged 19 to 39 who have interest and experience in the food and beverage field will be given the opportunity to learn on-site practical skills by working at representative stores in Gongneung-dong.
The support targets 10 unemployed youths residing in Nowon-gu. It is aimed at fostering entrepreneurs, so university students currently enrolled are excluded. Selected youths will receive customized work experience for a total of 44 hours per month over 3 months, with up to 1,320,000 KRW provided as activity expenses. For application methods and detailed information, please contact the Nowon Youth Work-Life Center.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “We expect the spread of small brands with local value and stories of Gongneung-dong by nurturing creative small business owners,” and added, “We will continue to actively promote various projects to revitalize the local economy.”
