Hana Financial Group announced on the 19th that it will conduct the clothing donation campaign "Cool Cool Closet" to reduce carbon emissions through resource circulation and promote a culture of giving.

Running for three weeks until the 6th of next month, Cool Cool Closet was planned with the purpose of promoting resource circulation by donating clothes that are sleeping in closets. Since its inception in 2020, it has become Hana Financial's representative ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) campaign, with a cumulative donation of 45,728 items and 2,961 participants.

In the spring cleaning clothing donation campaign held last March, 569 customers and employees participated, donating 12,547 items, resulting in a carbon reduction effect of 2.3 tons. This is equivalent to the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed annually by 270 30-year-old pine trees.

This Cool Cool Closet campaign allows anyone, including employees and customers, to participate through clothing donation boxes installed in all Hana Financial offices such as Euljiro, Myeongdong, Cheongna, Yeouido, and Gangnam buildings. Mobile applications for donation and free courier services are also available through the event page on Hana Bank’s representative mobile app, “Hana One Q.”

Clothing donations can also be made at nearby Hana Bank, Hana Securities, Hana Savings Bank, and other nationwide group company branches. After donating, donors can apply for donation receipts to receive year-end tax deduction benefits.

Donatable items include clothing, as well as bags and dolls that are not contaminated. After sorting, the items will be sold by the nonprofit public foundation “Beautiful Store.” All proceeds from sales will be donated to marginalized and vulnerable groups.

Hana Financial will also hold participation events to encourage donations. Participants who post certification photos and hashtags on their social networking services (SNS) and leave comments on Hana Financial’s official Instagram will be entered into a draw to receive coffee coupons.

A representative from Hana Financial’s ESG Planning Team stated, “We will continue the positive influence of this donation campaign that leads to carbon emission reduction and support for vulnerable groups through resource circulation,” and added, “We hope awareness of the environment and the culture of giving will spread further.”

Hana Financial continuously carries out sincere ESG activities for our society and environment, including ▲sharing nourishing food for vulnerable elderly during heatwaves ▲sharing happiness boxes in jjokbangchon (small room villages) ▲walking donation campaigns ▲resource circulation campaigns, among others.
