Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized 'Meoksanism (the issue of making a living)' at the first meeting after successfully securing his second term as party leader. He stated, "If it benefits the lives of the people, I will keep all options open and consult with the government and ruling party."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 19th, Lee said, "I am grateful to the party members, comrades, and the people for entrusting me once again with the heavy responsibility of being the leader during such difficult times," and added, "The purpose of politics, above all, is 'Meoksanism,' the issue of making a living." He continued, "We will steadily realize policies such as the 'Basic Society' vision to prepare for the AI (artificial intelligence) era and the 'Energy Highway' to respond to the energy transition."

He also said, "I will meet and consult as soon as possible for the better life of the people," adding, "I heard that Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, thinks positively about the talks." He further stated, "I have already instructed the chief secretary to conduct practical consultations," and added, "I look forward to meeting soon to have an open and frank discussion on livelihood issues and current political affairs."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "I will take the lead in turning crises into opportunities, restoring growth, and creating more opportunities," and added, "I will unite the people's aspirations and expectations entrusted to the Democratic Party to open a new Republic of Korea."

He continued, "Like the Olympic archery team, we will do our best to strengthen the 'meritocracy concentric circle system' where all skilled lawmakers, regional chairpersons, and party members run together with full force," and "I hope that Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, and the new leadership sincerely engage in the leader talks proposed by Leader Lee."
Jeon Hyun-hee, Supreme Council member, said, "The party members' will was clear to fight more fiercely against the Yoon Seok-youl administration and open the era of the next democratic government centered on Leader Lee Jae-myung," adding, "We will clearly expose the constitutional and legal violations of the Yoon Seok-youl and Kim Geon-hee administration in the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and report the truth to the people at the Supreme Council meeting."
Han Jun-ho, Supreme Council member, emphasized 'media reform.' He said, "There is a saying that memory establishes a community," and added, "Therefore, the media and history are important, but the Yoon administration has taken control of the media and appointed problematic figures to key national veterans affairs positions." Furthermore, he said, "Media reform is the most important and urgent reform task," and added, "We must start media reform so that power cannot interfere."
Kim Byung-joo, known as a 'defense and security expert,' stated, "The situation on the Korean Peninsula is very unstable. I am concerned whether the frequent changes in the Yoon government’s diplomatic and security lines can properly respond to the uncertainties of the international situation." He has served as commander of the 3rd Army Corps and deputy commander of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command.
Lee Eon-ju, a lawmaker from Busan, promoted the 'Eastward Advancement Policy.' This means devising a strategy for the Democratic Party to gain support from the moderate middle class. On the day, he said, "I will pay close attention to our Eastward Advancement Policy targeting the middle class in Yeongnam and the metropolitan area," and added, "I will also focus on livelihood and the economy."
