Kim Bong-sik, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, stated on the 16th, “We will ensure the safety of citizens from crime and accidents. Through prevention-centered police activities, we will enhance the public’s sense of safety and strengthen community policing in cooperation with local communities.” He added, “We will strictly punish crimes that infringe on people’s livelihoods, such as malicious fraud and drugs, and establish a robust protection system for socially vulnerable groups.”

At the inauguration ceremony of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner that afternoon, Commissioner Kim said, “With changes in the social environment, the scope of public safety is expanding, and new types of crimes are threatening public safety.” He continued, “Amid these changes, the Seoul police will carry out policing activities with renewed determination to ensure the safety of citizens.”

Commissioner Kim emphasized, “We will enhance the fairness of police activities based on laws and principles,” adding, “We will strictly respond to habitual illegal and disorderly acts to create a society where laws and principles are respected. We will equip ourselves with on-site response capabilities to put this into practice.”

He also stated, “We will conduct practical and job-centered training so that officers can work confidently in any situation,” and “Above all, as the main agents of investigations, we will improve the responsibility and completeness of investigations and strive to enhance the professionalism of investigators.”

Commissioner Kim said, “We will create a working environment where people can work and foster an organizational culture of respect and consideration,” adding, “We will carefully support colleagues who take risks at every moment and raise members’ pride through transparent and rational organizational management.”
