Expansion of Geoje Transportation Network Expected to Benefit 'ePyeonhansesang Geoje Eurosky' 원본보기 아이콘

With the active expansion of the metropolitan transportation network, Geoje in Gyeongnam is expected to significantly enhance accessibility not only to the nearby Yeongnam region but also to the Seoul metropolitan area.


According to Geoje City, the Geoje-Tongyeong Expressway construction project was selected as a preliminary feasibility study target project earlier this year. This project, with a budget of approximately 1.7 trillion KRW, will connect a section of about 24 km from Geoje to Tongyeong. It is the first such project in about 20 years since the opening of the Daejeon-Tongyeong Expressway in 2005, raising expectations that Geoje’s long-awaited project will be resolved.


In addition, the construction of the Gadukdo New Airport is also drawing attention. Gadukdo is an island located between Busan and Geoje, connected by the Geoga Bridge, and the establishment of an air route through the new airport is expected to greatly improve accessibility to Geoje. Especially, the New Airport Railroad Connection Line project, which allows direct access from Busan and Ulsan to Gadukdo without transfers, was also selected as a preliminary feasibility study target project earlier this year. With the simultaneous expansion of metropolitan transportation networks including roads, aviation, and railways, Geoje’s accessibility to inland regions such as the Seoul metropolitan area is expected to be greatly strengthened.


Recently, with the recovery of the shipbuilding industry and major positive developments such as the Corporate Innovation Park, Geoje is welcoming large-scale transportation benefits, which is also showing positive signals in the real estate market.
