The Personal Information Protection Commission announced on the 13th that it will decide whether to conduct an investigation after verifying the facts regarding allegations that Kakao Pay transferred customer information to China's Alipay.
The Commission plans to request data submission from Kakao Pay and others to verify the facts related to compliance with the obligation of overseas transfer of personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act.
After a thorough review of the materials submitted by the businesses, the Commission will decide whether to proceed with an investigation. If necessary, it will cooperate with related agencies such as the Financial Supervisory Service.
