President Yoon Suk-yeol will dispatch Kim Dae-gi, former Chief Presidential Secretary, as a congratulatory special envoy to the inauguration ceremony of Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic, scheduled for the 16th, the Blue House announced.


The Dominican Republic's President Abinader won re-election in the presidential election held on May 19.


The Dominican Republic has been a long-standing ally of Korea in the Caribbean region, and since establishing diplomatic relations in 1962, the two countries have developed a friendly cooperative relationship in various fields including politics, economic trade, and infrastructure.


Through the congratulatory special envoy, President Yoon plans to deliver a letter of congratulations to the President of the Dominican Republic, expressing his sincere wishes to further strengthen bilateral relations and closely cooperate.


A Blue House official stated, "The congratulatory special envoy is scheduled to hold meetings with high-ranking officials of the Dominican Republic during the visit to attend the inauguration ceremony."
