Gyeongbuk Development Corporation (President Lee Jaehyuk) announced on the 11th that it was selected as Grade B, ranking second among 15 city development corporations nationwide, in the "2024 Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation" organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced the results of the 2023 local public enterprise management performance evaluation for local public enterprises nationwide on the 6th, following deliberation by the Local Public Enterprise Policy Committee.
Despite financial difficulties caused by the downturn in the real estate market in the Gyeongbuk region, Gyeongbuk Development Corporation was recognized for its outstanding achievements in various fields in this evaluation. These include participation as a project implementer in two new national industrial complexes (Uljin, Andong), signing a contract for 200 units of purchased rental housing (the largest scale at the provincial level) to support housing stability for vulnerable groups, plans to supply 756 units of "Happiness Dream Housing," a childcare-friendly public rental housing to actively address the low birth rate issue, launching the "Duremadang" win-win cooperation platform for 22 cities and counties which led to selection in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Regional Vitality Town contest, securing sustainability through active promotion of renewable energy projects such as the Uljin onshore wind power complex, and leading ESG management by forming the Gyeongsangbuk-do ESG Expansion Council.
In particular, last year, the third year of President Lee Jaehyuk's tenure, the corporation achieved its best performance since its founding. It became the first local public corporation to achieve Grade 1 in the comprehensive integrity evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and was the only public institution to receive the highest honor, the "Presidential Citation," among public organizations, achieving remarkable results. This positive momentum is also well reflected in the results of this management evaluation.
Lee Jaehyuk, President of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, said, "This achievement is thanks to the generous encouragement and support of the residents, and the result of all executives and employees working together with one heart," and added, "We will continue to do our best to meet the expectations of the residents and become a leading public institution representing Gyeongbuk."
Meanwhile, Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation plans to use the results of this evaluation as a stepping stone to more actively implement national policies and provincial tasks such as revitalizing the region and addressing the low birth rate. As a leading public enterprise in regional development, the corporation has reaffirmed its commitment to achieve Grade A in the next year's evaluation.
