Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) won the Excellence Award for the second consecutive year in the Job Disclosure System category at the '2024 National Local Government Job Awards.'
Hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the 'National Local Government Job Awards' is a ceremony that promotes local governments' efforts and achievements in job creation and strengthens accountable job administration.
The 'Job Disclosure System' category evaluates the setting of job targets, the annual disclosure of execution plans to residents, and the assessment of performance.
Last year, Guro-gu set a target of 14,200 jobs and created 16,521 jobs, earning the Excellence Award this year.
Surveys of demand and expert consultations were conducted targeting companies, residents, and vocational trainees. To achieve the goals, various projects were implemented, including △youth-tailored job policies △opening and operation of the Guro Youth Startup Support Center △regional intelligent innovation talent development projects △and the High Vocational Education Hub District (HiVE).
Specifically, projects such as △G-Valley medical and IT workforce training △new workforce training in health and welfare △mid-to-senior career fitness programs, along with △job experience support projects to improve youth employment rates △operation of Youth Eorum (Metropolitan Job Cafe) △and support for specialized high school field training were carried out.
Through these projects, customized employment programs by age and situation were prepared according to the needs of companies and residents, achieving a high employment rate and receiving favorable evaluations.
In particular, in response to entering an aging society, Guro-gu actively promoted differentiated projects such as establishing the 'Mid-to-Senior Job Dream Center' for reemployment of retired workers using its own budget.
Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro-gu, stated, “We expect many good jobs to be created this year through various projects for regional talent development and corporate growth,” and added, “Next year, we will continue to actively collect expert opinions along with demand surveys to provide quality jobs in Guro-gu.”
