Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Wolsong Headquarters reported that at approximately 11:23 a.m. on the 7th, the emergency diesel generators at Wolsong Unit 1 (pressurized heavy water reactor, permanently shut down) and Wolsong Unit 3 (pressurized heavy water reactor, 700,000 kW class) were activated.
This occurred due to a transformer shutdown caused by contact between a worker and a cable during installation work. The emergency diesel generators were subsequently activated, immediately supplying power to the plant, and the injured worker received first aid before being transported to a specialized hospital.
Currently, Wolsong Unit 1 remains permanently shut down, and Wolsong Unit 3 has been undergoing scheduled preventive maintenance since May 1. The Wolsong Nuclear Power Headquarters is investigating the detailed cause of the incident.
