U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for vice president.
On the 6th (local time), the U.S. daily The Washington Post (WP) reported, citing anonymous sources, that Vice President Harris informed her close aides of this decision.
Governor Walz served six terms as a U.S. Representative from Minnesota and has been the governor of Minnesota since 2019.
Harris, a 59-year-old progressive Indian-American Black woman, is expected to expand her voter support base by selecting 60-year-old white male Governor Walz as her running mate.
WP analyzed, "Governor Walz represents a more competitive region in the United States," and "Vice President Harris’s choice of him will provide a certain level of balance that is politically advantageous for the Democratic Party."
