The Seoul Metropolitan Council (Chairperson Choi Ho-jeong) held the 325th extraordinary plenary session on the 29th and elected 11 standing committee chairpersons, including Lee Suk-ja, Chairperson of the Steering Committee.
The Seoul Metropolitan Council respected the citizens' wishes for a council of coexistence and cooperation, and smoothly completed the formation of the second half of the term based on an agreement that the majority party, the People Power Party, would hold 8 standing committee chair positions, and the second negotiation group, the Democratic Party of Korea, would hold 3 standing committee chair positions, according to the proportion of seats.
The new standing committee chairpersons for the second half of the Seoul Metropolitan Council are as follows:
▲ Steering Committee Chairperson Lee Suk-ja (People Power Party, Seocho 2, 2nd term)
▲ Administration and Autonomy Committee Chairperson Jang Tae-yong (People Power Party, Gangdong 4, 1st term)
▲ Planning and Economy Committee Chairperson Lim Chun-dae (People Power Party, Songpa 3, 1st term)
▲ Environment and Water Resources Committee Chairperson Lim Man-gyun (Democratic Party of Korea, Gwanak 3, 2nd term)
▲ Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Chairperson Kim Kyung (Democratic Party of Korea, Gangseo 1, 2nd term)
▲ Health and Welfare Committee Chairperson Kim Young-ok (People Power Party, Gwangjin 3, 1st term)
▲ Urban Safety and Construction Committee Chairperson Kang Dong-gil (Democratic Party of Korea, Seongbuk 3, 2nd term)
▲ Housing and Space Committee Chairperson Kim Tae-su (People Power Party, Seongbuk 4, 1st term)
▲ Urban Planning and Balance Committee Chairperson Kim Gil-young (People Power Party, Gangnam 6, 1st term)
▲ Transportation Committee Chairperson Lee Byung-yoon (People Power Party, Dongdaemun 1, 1st term)
▲ Education Committee Chairperson Park Sang-hyuk (People Power Party, Seocho 1, 1st term)
Last month, the council elected Choi Ho-jeong as chairperson, and Lee Jong-hwan and Kim In-je as vice-chairpersons. The People Power Party elected Lee Seong-bae, and the Democratic Party of Korea elected Seong Heum-je as representatives of their respective negotiation groups.
Chairperson Choi Ho-jeong and the new committee chairpersons stated, "We will work hard for the welfare of the citizens," and added, "We will do our best to support the council members' legislative activities so that the Seoul Metropolitan Council can receive the love of the citizens."
