Hoseo University announced on the 29th that its Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation has been selected as a preliminary operator for TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup Korea) by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, marking the first time a university industry-academic cooperation foundation has achieved this.
TIPS is a technology startup support program that discovers and supports promising startups in collaboration with the government. TIPS operators play a pivotal role in nurturing startups by providing funding, mentoring, and networking opportunities.
The Hoseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation plans to discover and support startups mainly in the three leading technology sectors?system semiconductors, mobility, and bio-health?and in the three major industries of the Chungnam region?display, high-performance green bio, and smart farm.
Startups can receive investment support ranging from 100 million to 200 million KRW from the Hoseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, as well as up to 700 million KRW in government funding.
Seo Wonkyu, head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, said, "We aim to support outstanding entrepreneurs in the leading technology sectors by establishing a specialized support system for each stage of the startup investment cycle."
