As the sweltering heat fluctuates above 35 degrees Celsius, vacationers in light clothing and swimsuits are cooling off by jumping into the water park set up along the Seocheon riverside in Yeongju.
The '2024 Yeongju Siwon(ONE) Festival,' which kicked off on the 27th and runs through August 4, was bustling with families on outings over the weekend.
At the Yeongju City Support Festival, a father and son are taking on the challenge of the water play attraction Mission 3 Buoy Crossing.

From the afternoon of the opening day, the Munjeong riverside area, where the festival is held, quickly filled with citizens and tourists. Families enjoyed a relaxing time watching their children play in the water.
At the peak of the midday heat, crowds lined up to cool off at the Siwon Adventure Zone, which features water attractions such as a 57-meter-long boat ride, buoy crossing, water slides, a pool, and air bounce structures.
In the evening, an opening celebration concert featuring Haha & Skull, Cotton Stick, Yoon Sung, No Brain, and others elevated the festive mood, providing visual and auditory enjoyment well into the night.
Participants spent a delightful day watching performances with family and friends in the dining zone, which was lined with food trucks and food booths.
Kim Kyuha (Gaheng-dong, 45), who visited the festival, said, "After the rainy season, the weather suddenly got hotter, so I came to the festival with my child to escape the heat. We didn't make any special vacation plans, but it was nice to enjoy time together as a family at a nearby location without any burden."
A city official commented, "Since the festival venue is set up in the Munjeong riverside area, which citizens usually use for exercise and walking, we expect even more citizens to visit. We will do our utmost to ensure the safety of citizens and tourists visiting the festival."
Throughout the festival period, the Yeongju Siwon Festival will offer daytime water play experiences, mini Viking rides, Disco Pangpang, and other games and activities. Every night, there will be sunset Korean traditional music concerts, beer busking, and riverside song contests against the backdrop of the cool riverside.
This year's festival runs until August 4, and the city plans to focus all administrative resources on festival operations, transportation, and safety to ensure that citizens and tourists can enjoy a refreshing summer in the region.
