Cafe24 announced on the 29th that it supported the professional baseball team Seoul LG Twins' entry into the YouTube shopping market.
The official YouTube channel operated by the LG Twins, 'LG Twins TV (LGTWINSTV),' has been showing growth fueled by last season's Korean Series championship. The number of subscribers reached 200,000 in November last year, becoming the first domestic professional baseball team YouTube channel to do so, and recently increased to about 232,000, with around 3,000 videos.
In particular, since 2021, the channel has regularly collected subscriber feedback and reflected it in the production of subsequent videos, serving as a channel to expand fandom. For example, the live broadcasts where General Manager Cha Myung-seok directly explains team issues to fans are noted as active fan communication content.
Cafe24 integrated the 'YouTube Shopping Dedicated Store' feature into LG Twins TV. The YouTube Shopping Dedicated Store is a feature that Cafe24 jointly launched with YouTube last month as the world's first, allowing users to start YouTube shopping through a dedicated store without the need to open a Direct to Consumer (D2C) store targeting consumers. Through this integration, the focus was on showcasing LG Twins players' merchandise to video viewers and enhancing the team's marketing effectiveness.
At the store, LG Twins showcase team merchandise such as uniforms, hats, and keyrings through shopping icons in the channel's Shorts videos. In the future, various merchandise, including 'Sundiform,' uniforms designed directly by players, will be sold through the channel's 'Store' tab and live streaming.
LG Twins introduce new merchandise every month in the YouTube shopping store. Cafe24 plans to continue supporting the e-commerce technology services necessary for LG Twins' fan communication expansion strategy.
LG Twins stated, "We will prioritize releasing major new products on YouTube Shopping and focus on creating video stories linked to merchandise," adding, "Collaboration with Cafe24 will be an opportunity to further unite fans on the YouTube channel."
Jae-seok Lee, CEO of Cafe24, emphasized, "YouTube Shopping has become a platform where professional sports fans can communicate more closely with players," and added, "We will continue to focus on advancing technology to support the growth of e-commerce businesses based on fandoms of professional sports teams."
