Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, recorded 88.87% of the votes, ranking first in the Chungcheongnam-do primary of the Democratic Party's national convention on the 28th. His competitor, Kim Doo-kwan, received only 9.29%.
According to the Democratic Party Central Election Commission, in the online voting results of the Chungnam Provincial Party regular member meeting held at the Chungnam Transportation Training Center that morning, Lee received 11,342 votes, accounting for 88.87%. Kim Doo-kwan received 1,186 votes (9.29%), and Kim Ji-soo received 234 votes (1.83%).
In the vote results for the Supreme Council member candidates, Kim Min-seok ranked first with 5,264 votes (20.62%). Following him were Jung Bong-ju (16.94%), Jeon Hyun-hee (13.30%), Han Jun-ho (12.82%), Kim Byung-joo (12.74%), Lee Eon-ju (12.15%), Min Hyung-bae (5.77%), and Kang Seon-woo (5.65%).
Kim Min-seok had previously ranked first in Ulsan with 20.05%, in Busan with 21.51%, and in Gyeongnam with 19.75%. As of the previous day, Kim Min-seok's cumulative vote share ranking rose two steps from 4th place last weekend to 2nd place (16.05%).
According to the Democratic Party, out of a total of 50,932 eligible voters in Chungnam, 12,762 participated in the online voting, resulting in an online voting participation rate of 25.06%. The Chungnam online voting for eligible party members was conducted from noon on the 27th to noon on the 28th.
The three presidential candidates and eight Supreme Council member candidates will hold primaries in Chungnam in the morning and in Chungbuk in the afternoon. The nationwide joint campaign speeches will conclude in Seoul on the 17th of next month, and the national convention on the 18th will elect one party leader and five Supreme Council members.
