A music performance held in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul was halted due to an overwhelming crowd.

According to fire authorities on the 28th, around 12:40 a.m., multiple reports were received stating that the music festival "Boiler Room Seoul 2004," held at the complex cultural space S Factory Building D in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, was dangerously overcrowded.

Eventually, the performance, which was originally scheduled to continue until 4 a.m., was stopped around 1 a.m. There were no casualties, but five people complained of breathing difficulties and were given safety measures on site before returning home.

The performance was highly anticipated as Peggy Gou, a Korean DJ and music producer active worldwide based in Europe, was scheduled to appear. However, due to the cancellation, Peggy Gou was unable to take the stage.

In response, the audience is demanding compensation, claiming that the organizers sold tickets without considering the venue's capacity. On the ticket sales site Interpark Ticket, reviews such as "They accepted reservations beyond capacity, and the headliner didn’t even appear?this is a massive scam," "The worst management," and "Who compensates those of us who waited in line for over an hour but couldn’t enter?" are pouring in.

Meanwhile, Peggy Gou expressed her disappointment over the cancellation through her Instagram story, saying, "I am very upset and heartbroken."

She said, "The performance was canceled due to operational and safety issues by the organizers before I even started playing music. I came from Japan without sleep, looking forward to today, and I never expected this to happen."

She added, "There was a report that caused the police to be dispatched, but fortunately, no major accidents occurred. I have requested that all ticket purchasers be refunded as soon as possible," and "We are currently discussing the next performance for those who came today and those who couldn’t enter, so please wait a little longer."

Peggy Gou is a representative Korean DJ who rose to stardom in the global EDM music scene with her 2018 album 'Once.' The track "It Makes You Forget" was selected as 'Song of the Year' at the 2018 UK AIM Music Awards. In 2019, she was also named one of Forbes' '30 Most Influential Leaders in Asia.'
