Woori Financial Group announced on the 21st that starting next month, it will open the wedding hall on the 4th floor of its headquarters in Hoehyeon-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, free of charge to socially vulnerable groups.
This program is a free wedding package service for vulnerable groups in connection with the Seoul Social Welfare Council, consisting of three main services: free use of the wedding hall, support for wedding expenses, and free wedding car support.
First, Woori Financial will support free weddings on the first and third Sundays of each month for six socially vulnerable newlywed couples, such as low-income families and single-parent households, selected monthly by the Seoul Social Welfare Council.
In particular, Woori Financial will also provide 3 million KRW for wedding expenses from the Woori Children’s Love Fund, which was voluntarily established by the labor union and employees, easing the financial burden on prospective newlyweds. Additionally, Woori Financial will provide a free wedding car to wish the newlyweds a strong start.
Im Jong-ryong, Chairman of Woori Financial Group, said, "We have prepared a free wedding support program as an effective measure to overcome the low birthrate crisis, a major concern in our society, and to fulfill corporate social responsibility. Through such social contribution and win-win finance, Woori Financial will contribute to creating a healthy society where everyone can smile together."
Meanwhile, this program is the result of a shared commitment by Chairman Im Jong-ryong, Bank President Jo Byung-gyu, and Woori Bank Labor Union Chairman Park Bong-su. Woori Financial has been developing various ideas and implementation plans, such as the ‘Re-employment Conditional Childcare Retirement System,’ to overcome the low birthrate in cooperation with labor and management.
