On the 19th, Korea GM announced that over 400 pre-orders were received on the first day for the new Chevrolet pickup truck Colorado model. The initial quantity imported from the United States was completely sold out.
The recently launched Colorado in Korea is a mid-size pickup truck and the third-generation new model. The first generation was released in 2003, the second generation in 2019, and the third-generation new model was first unveiled in the United States last year.
Colorado has been considered one of the best-selling models in the domestic imported pickup truck market. More than 5,000 units were sold in 2020, about 3,800 units the following year, and nearly 3,000 units last year. Considering that competing models had annual sales in the hundreds, this performance is commendable. It was recognized as a cost-effective model with price competitiveness.
With the launch of this new model, the marketing strategy shifted to a high-priced imported pickup. The high-end Z71 single trim is priced at 72.79 million KRW. The company views the market response to this new model as positive and plans to actively negotiate with the headquarters to bring in additional quantities.
Lee Ki-hyun, Executive Director of Korea GM, said, "Given that the initial quantity of the new Colorado sold out within a day of its launch, it is enjoying tremendous popularity and will become a new leader in the high-priced imported pickup truck market."
