On the 18th, the messenger KakaoTalk, which experienced login errors around 11 a.m., was restored to normal after about an hour and 30 minutes.
According to Kakao, from around 10:54 a.m. that day, network errors caused issues with the PC version of KakaoTalk and Daum login, among others. After emergency inspections and recovery work, normal service began to resume around 11:36 a.m. and was fully restored by 12:20 p.m.
The inconvenience to users was compounded by the 'blackout' of some KakaoTalk services amid heavy rain concentrated in the metropolitan area.
Earlier, after a series of disruptions in KakaoTalk services in May, the Ministry of Science and ICT conducted an emergency on-site inspection and demanded that Kakao submit a correction plan within three months.
On May 13, a six-minute outage in KakaoTalk service caused about 80% of users to experience delays and failures in sending KakaoTalk messages. Similar issues with message sending and receiving delays occurred again on May 20?21.
