The director of Noh So-young Art Center Nabi has decided not to appeal the court ruling that the art museum 'Art Center Nabi' must vacate the SK headquarters building.
Lee Sang-won, legal representative of Art Center Nabi, issued a statement on the 15th, saying, "Art Center Nabi has decided not to appeal the first-instance ruling in the lawsuit filed by SK Innovation regarding the handover of the art museum."
Lee stated, "Art Center Nabi has decided not to file an appeal out of respect for the judiciary's judgment that, under civil law, it must accept SK's unreasonable demands."
He added, "Although the Seoul High Court previously ruled that Chairman Chey Tae-won and SK Group's demand for Nabi Museum to leave the SK Seorin Building was inappropriate, we strongly regret once again that Chairman Chey and others did not take appropriate measures such as withdrawing the lawsuit."
He continued, "Going forward, Art Center Nabi will wisely overcome the current difficulties and, honoring the late Park Gye-hee's wishes, will continue its best efforts to ensure that the sensibility of art brings positive changes to society."
Earlier, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 36 (Presiding Judge Lee Jae-eun) ruled on the 21st of last month in the first instance of the real estate handover lawsuit filed by SK Innovation against Director Noh, ordering "Art Center Nabi to hand over the real estate to SK Innovation and pay approximately 1.0456 billion won plus delayed damages," partially ruling in favor of the plaintiff.
