On the 24th afternoon, K Auction announced on the 12th that it will auction 75 pieces of artwork worth approximately 6.4 billion KRW, including letter paintings by Kim Jong-hak and Lee Jung-seop, at its headquarters in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
This auction features numerous works by Korea's representative modern and contemporary figurative painters. Four works by Kim Jong-hak, known as the 'Painter of Seorak,' will be exhibited. Among them, the large-scale piece 'Summer Seorak,' measuring 2.5 meters in width, depicts a forest full of greenery with various colorful flowers, blue birds, and butterflies, where the harmony of all living things visually amplifies the beauty within the canvas. The starting price is 450 million KRW. Other works such as 'Summer Waterfall,' 'Seorak,' and 'Cockscomb' will also be available.
Six works by Lee Ufan will also be presented. These include the 1993 piece 'Correspondence' (690 million to 950 million KRW), the 1994 piece 'Correspondence' (270 million to 400 million KRW), an untitled watercolor on paper, one print, and two works painted on ceramics, all seeking new owners.
Yoon Hyung-geun's works include three pieces such as the 100-ho sized 'Untitled' (650 million to 800 million KRW) and a 50-ho sized 'Untitled.' Five works by Park Seo-bo, including the 1-ho sized 'Myobeop No. 950503' (18 million to 80 million KRW), are also exhibited.
Kim Chang-yeol's 100-ho sized 'Return SH04013' (100 million to 200 million KRW) and two 10-ho sized pieces 'Water Drops' and 'Water Drops PA11008' will start auction at 40 million KRW and 35 million KRW respectively. Lee Jung-seop's letter painting 'Fish, Crab, and Children' (140 million to 350 million KRW) will also be showcased to the public.
Jung Sang-hwa's white work 'WORK,' estimated to have been created in 1974, is priced between 130 million and 400 million KRW. Jung Chang-seop's 'Mukgo No. 99907' and 'Mukgo No. 99908' are both estimated between 13 million and 40 million KRW.
Works by Lee Kang-so, Kim Tae-ho, Lee Geon-yong, Jeon Gwang-young, and Lee Bae will also be exhibited. Foreign artists featured include Yayoi Kusama, Sol LeWitt, Robbie Dewi Antono, Jody Kewick, Eddie Martinez, Ayako Rokkaku, and Robert Combas.
The auction preview can be viewed free of charge at the K Auction exhibition hall in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, until the auction day on the 24th.
