Daejeon City announced that it will actively consider introducing a queue table system at Sung Sim Dang to prevent crowd accidents during the 'Midnight Festival' period.
The 'queue table system' allows customers to agree to the use of personal information, enter their mobile phone number, and register the number of companions at a kiosk, after which they receive their waiting order via SNS.
Although Daejeon City plans to implement enhanced safety measures for this year's 'Midnight Festival', such as making the road in front of Sung Sim Dang one-way and increasing the number of safety personnel, it has proposed the introduction of the queue table system at Sung Sim Dang to fundamentally address the crowd issue.
Daejeon City and Sung Sim Dang have held several working-level meetings to introduce the table system and are actively cooperating to prevent crowd accidents by identifying areas for improvement through pilot operation of the system before the 'Midnight Festival'.
The city expects that the introduction of the table system will have positive effects such as: a significant reduction in crowd density risk due to a drastic decrease in waiting lines; improved customer service by resolving long queues; allowing customers to leave the Sung Sim Dang alley to enjoy the festival while waiting; and increased sales for nearby businesses as people use surrounding stores during the wait time.
Lim Muk, Director of the Daejeon City Citizen Safety Office, said, "As an even larger crowd is expected at this year's Daejeon Midnight Festival, we will do our best in safety management so that citizens can enjoy the festival with peace of mind by alleviating crowd congestion in the alley in front of Sung Sim Dang, which is the area of maximum density."
