Incheon City announced on the 11th that the private investment sections of the metropolitan area express railroad (GTX) Line B (Incheon National University Entrance to Yongsan, Sangbong to Maseok) have received approval for the implementation plan.
According to the city, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport approved and announced the GTX-B private investment section implementation plan on the same day.
The GTX-B line is a metropolitan express railroad connecting major hubs in the metropolitan area within 30 minutes, planned to be constructed over an 82.7 km section from Songdo International City (Incheon National University Entrance Station) ? Incheon City Hall ? Bupyeong ? Bucheon Sports Complex ? Sindorim ? Yongsan ? Seoul Station ? Cheongnyangni ? Gyeonggi Namyangju Maseok.
It aims to open in 2030, with a total investment of 6.8478 trillion KRW, combining 4.2894 trillion KRW from private investment and 2.5584 trillion KRW from public funds.
The section from Yongsan Station to Seoul Station to Cheongnyangni Station to Sangbong Station, constructed as a public project, has already partially started construction or filed construction notices by section.
The 40 km section from Incheon National University Entrance Station to Yongsan Station and the 23 km section from Sangbong Station to Maseok Station will be built using a Build-Transfer-Operate (BTO) model, with the entire section operated by the private business operator.
Following the approval of the GTX-B private investment section implementation plan, Incheon City plans to actively consult with the project implementers and the government on adding one additional stop between Incheon National University Entrance Station and Incheon City Hall Station.
Additionally, the city will promote the establishment of connecting railway networks, construction of integrated transfer centers, and reorganization of metropolitan and city buses to maximize the transportation effects following the opening of GTX-B.
Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, said, "The GTX-B line will help alleviate commuting traffic congestion in the metropolitan area, promote balanced regional development, and stimulate investment attraction in the Free Economic Zone. We will make every effort to ensure the timely opening of the GTX-B line and do our best to establish a comprehensive railway network in Incheon."
