President Yoon Suk-yeol arrived in Washington D.C., USA, on the morning of the 10th (local time) to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit and began his schedule. He is the first South Korean president to attend the NATO summit for three consecutive years.

On the same day, President Yoon will hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders from Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Finland, Japan, and others. In the evening, he will attend a social dinner hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden and the First Lady, accompanied by his wife, Kim Keon-hee.

On the 11th, the NATO summit will include a meeting of the four Indo-Pacific partners (IP4) ? South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand ? as well as the main NATO summit. Kim Tae-hyo, the First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, stated regarding the NATO summit, "We will send a strong message about North Korea-Russia cooperation and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between NATO allies and the IP4."

President Yoon will attend the NATO Public Forum, jointly hosted by NATO and five U.S. and European think tanks, becoming the first South Korean president to speak as the sole speaker in the Indo-Pacific session. At this event, President Yoon is expected to diagnose the crisis factors in the global security order and discuss cooperation measures between NATO, South Korea, and the IP4.

Major foreign media outlets are focusing on President Yoon’s attendance at the NATO summit and continue to report on it. Bloomberg in the United States named President Yoon as one of the most influential leaders attending the NATO summit. Bloomberg explained that South Korea holds a vast stockpile of weapons that NATO is seeking to supply to help Ukraine fight.

The Washington Times featured a photo of President Yoon on its front page and introduced the significance of his NATO attendance across two pages. It is anticipated that Asian allies will propose ways to expand security cooperation at the NATO summit.

Other major international media, including the UK’s Reuters, Japan’s Kyodo News, Ukraine’s Kyiv Independent, and Italy’s Agenzia Nova, also reported that President Yoon emphasized that "North Korea-Russia military cooperation is a decisive threat and a serious challenge to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in Europe."
