Kim Beom-seok, appointed as the First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 4th, is a seasoned economic bureaucrat who has mastered various policy areas.


Born in 1970, he graduated from Gwangseong High School in Seoul and Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration, and earned a master's degree in Public Administration from New York University in the United States.


He entered public service in 1993 by passing the 37th Administrative Examination and served as Director of Price Policy, Director of Human Resources Policy, and Director of Fiscal Planning at the Economic Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He also served as Director of Bilateral Tariff Cooperation at the Taxation Office and Director of Regional Finance at the International Financial Policy Bureau. He is recognized for his extensive experience across various departments such as policy, taxation, and finance within the Ministry of Economy and Finance, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of overall operations.


Under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, he served as Director of the Policy Coordination Bureau, formulating the New Growth 4.0 strategy, and in July last year, he was appointed as Vice Minister overseeing economic policy-related bureaus. After moving from Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance to Economic and Financial Secretary at the Presidential Office, he made a grand return to the Ministry as the First Vice Minister, overseeing macroeconomic policy and taxation. He is highly trusted by staff and is regarded as a gentle and rational leader.
