'Urban Summer Playground'...Gwangjin-gu Creates Ground Fountain at Yaksoewon Small Park Near Jayang Station

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has installed a ground fountain at Yakchowonso Park (553-22 Jayang-dong) near Jayang Station to provide a resting space for residents exhausted by the heat.

Due to global warming and other factors, the heatwaves have been intensifying every year, increasing residents' demand for water play facilities. Especially, as this summer is expected to have higher temperatures than usual, the district quickly proceeded with the installation of the ground fountain to prepare for the summer heatwave.

The Yakchowonso Park ground fountain covers a total area of 33㎡ and is located at an intersection, making it highly accessible. Residents and children visiting the park can enjoy water play at the fountain, cooling off and having fun.

The ground fountain will operate eight times daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding rainy days, until September 30. It runs for 40 minutes at the top of each hour, and from 6 p.m., it will operate continuously for one hour.

Yakchowonso Park also features a garden-style flower bed planted with 26 species, including Echinacea and Coreopsis, allowing many residents to enjoy the garden and relax.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I hope residents can momentarily forget the heat and create precious memories with their families through the Yakchowonso Park ground fountain during the hot summer.” He added, “Going forward, Gwangjin-gu will continue to listen to residents' voices and do its best to create a resident-friendly park environment that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.”
