Irem announced on the 20th that it held the opening ceremony of Irem Steel at a coil center located in Duma-myeon, Gyeryong-si, Chungnam, with company officials in attendance.
Irem Steel was launched last month after securing equipment and part of the factory from Gilsan Steel, the nation's top coil center. The plan is to transform it into a high value-added stainless steel core coil center in the future.
According to the company, Irem Steel recorded sales of approximately 330 billion KRW last year and is recognized as one of the leading stainless steel processing centers in Korea. On the 13th, Irem invested 20% equity in Irem Steel, incorporating it as an affiliate and is now actively promoting coil center operations.
An Irem official stated, “In the stainless steel market, where price and market volatility are high, we expect to reduce the burden of holding inventory, which will help lower costs and strengthen sales capabilities,” adding, “Through product diversification, we plan to establish a stable profit structure by selling not only steel pipes but also coils, sheets, and scalps in the future.”
