Fire at Mokdong Apartment... 14 Firefighters Injured in 'Explosion'

A fire broke out in the underground recycling collection area of an apartment building in Mokdong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, resulting in injuries to 14 firefighters due to an explosion inside the building.

According to the Fire Agency, at around 8 a.m. on the 19th, a fire of unknown cause occurred in the recycling collection area on the second basement floor of the apartment, spreading to the first basement floor.

The fire department issued a Level 1 response, mobilizing all personnel from the local fire station, at 10:37 a.m. to extinguish the fire. During firefighting efforts, an explosion inside the building around 3 p.m. injured 14 firefighters.

The cause of the fire and the extent of property damage are under investigation.
