Choi Ho-jung, the floor leader of the People Power Party in the Seoul Metropolitan Council, was elected as the candidate for the chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council for the second half of the term.
Candidate Choi conducted the first round of voting with Nam Chang-jin, the vice-chairperson, and Park Jung-hwa, the chairperson of the Transportation Committee. In the first round, Choi Ho-jung received 33 votes, Nam Chang-jin 23 votes, and Park Jung-hwa 19 votes. Since no candidate received a majority, a runoff vote was held between Choi Ho-jung and Nam Chang-jin, resulting in Choi being selected as the final candidate.
In the runoff vote, Choi Ho-jung received 41 votes, and Nam Chang-jin received 34 votes.
This election for the chairperson candidate saw no surprises, as Choi Ho-jung, a three-term member and the most senior within the People Power Party, was elected.
Along with this, council member Lee Jong-hwan was elected as the vice-chairperson candidate.
Additionally, council member Lee Sung-bae was elected as the floor leader.
