DL E&C has stepped up focused management of safety and health at construction sites in preparation for the rainy and hot summer seasons. This move aligns with the Ministry of Employment and Labor's designation of June to August this year as the "Special Response Period for Heatwaves, Heavy Rain, and Typhoons," aiming to ensure thorough site management.

At 1 p.m., a safety inspection meeting (TBM) is held before work to check the health status of workers vulnerable to heat, such as the elderly and those with hypertension. At 2 p.m., a 30-minute cooling time is implemented. At 3 p.m., when it is hottest and concentration tends to decline, cool beverages, fruit punch, and ice cream are provided.
The company has also distributed heat illness prevention guides, safety management rules for heavy rain and typhoons, and self-inspection checklists across all sites. Currently, all sites conduct weekly self-inspections to prepare for the hot season, and vulnerable sites are continuously supported and inspected, DL E&C reported.
In addition, DL E&C is promoting the Safety Report System, which allows workers to directly participate. This system enables workers to identify, report, and address hazards themselves and can be easily accessed via smartphones. During the heatwave period, DL E&C especially encourages workers to exercise their "right to stop work" through the Safety Report System if they experience health impairments due to heat-related illnesses. Recently, the company supported four sites with coffee trucks as a reward for excellent participation in the Safety Report System. In the second half of the year, DL E&C plans to develop a system that tracks individual safety activity participation and provides points that can be converted into cash.
Lee Gil-po, Chief Safety Officer (CSO) of DL E&C, said, "The summer season is a period with a high risk of serious accidents, so we are making efforts to inspect, verify, and improve even the smallest details at the sites. We are currently focusing on checking drainage plans and collapse prevention measures in preparation for heavy rain, as well as closely monitoring health management plans for workers during the hot season."
