Gyeonggi Province will select "Good Apartments" starting this year to improve the treatment of workers managing multi-family housing complexes.

Good Apartments are selected from mandatory management multi-family housing complexes and mixed-use residential complexes with 150 or more households within the province. They are divided into three groups based on size: ▲150 to less than 500 households ▲500 to less than 1000 households ▲1000 households or more.

The evaluation criteria include working environment, employment stability, human rights protection, and coexistence activities. The evaluation is conducted by an evaluation committee composed of private experts, and one complex from each group will be selected in October, totaling three complexes.

Gyeonggi Province will award the selected complexes with a Good Apartment certification plaque and a commendation from the governor.

Park Jong-geun, head of the Multi-family Housing Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Good Apartment initiative was launched to protect management workers, including security guards and cleaners, from unfair treatment such as power harassment in multi-family housing complexes. We will work to spread a culture of mutual consideration and respect between residents and management workers."

Meanwhile, to improve the treatment of multi-family housing management workers, Gyeonggi Province established the "Ordinance on the Improvement of Treatment for Multi-family Housing Management Workers in Gyeonggi Province" in January 2022, providing a legal foundation. Subsequently, the "Standard Rules for Multi-family Housing Management Regulations in Gyeonggi Province" incorporated provisions banning harassment within multi-family housing, guidelines for preventing and responding to harassment of management workers, obligations to verify appropriate wages for management workers, and a standard service contract for work periods of one year or more.

Starting this year, the province has also added support for "air conditioner installation costs in security offices" as one of the items in the "Gyeonggi Province Multi-family Housing Residential Environment Improvement Support Project."
