On the 17th (local time), local media including the New York Post reported that such an incident took place on the 11th at a drive-thru coffee shop in Seattle, USA. A man who was a regular at this cafe ordered coffee and water, and when the bill came to $22 (about 30,000 KRW), he complained, saying, "The coffee is too expensive." In response to the customer's complaint, the owner replied, "Who forced you to buy coffee here?" and the two began to argue. Eventually, the man continued the quarrel for 15 minutes, even after getting out of his car.

As the dispute showed no signs of ending, the man finally threw the coffee and water he had received at the service window, then got back into his car. The owner then opened the window and struck the front windshield of the man's vehicle hard with a hammer, shattering it. Afterwards, the man drove away and disappeared from the CCTV footage, but reportedly stayed nearby until the police, who had been called, arrived and he left only then.

The owner, Emma Lee (23), explained, "There was a price tag, so there was no way he didn't know the price," and added, "He shouted, spat, and tried to open the service window, so I felt threatened." She stated that hitting the windshield with the hammer was an act of self-protection. Emma also revealed that the man's rude behavior was not a one-time occurrence. She said, "I'm not worried about paying for the windshield damage," and filed a police complaint against the man for assault.

Netizens who saw this expressed support for Emma with comments like, "Would the owner have acted like that if he were a man?", "Troublemakers need to be dealt with accordingly," and "I felt relieved when she hit the window with the hammer." However, some expressed concerned criticism, saying, "The customer was problematic, but the cafe owner’s use of violence is an undeniable fact," and "The man might file a lawsuit."
