Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will promote the nighttime running project "Running Healthy Under the Moonlight" from July to October around the Gaepo-dong Neighborhood Park basketball court area.

"Running Healthy Under the Moonlight" is a project that expands the "Healthy Run" project conducted for one month in May to increase the rate of moderate or higher physical activity in the local community. The Healthy Run project, which held group runs on Saturday mornings at Yangjaecheon over five sessions, attracted 200 participants and gained popularity. While conducting the project, it was planned to reflect the demand from young adults who showed high interest in nighttime running after work. It is expected that young people of the same age group will interact around running as a theme and create a free and vibrant local community.

Participants will run 3 to 5 km courses around Gangnam-gu, including Gaepo-dong Neighborhood Park and Yangjaecheon, once or twice a week from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The program targets people aged 20 to 39, and a professional instructor, a former national track and field athlete, will teach participants how to run safely without injury, warm-up exercises, precautions, and guide them to run in groups according to their running skills. The district plans to select participants to join the International Peace Marathon held in October.

Those who want to participate in running can join the KakaoTalk open chat room "2024 Running Healthy Under the Moonlight" to check the schedule and participate. The first running meeting is scheduled for July 3. Meanwhile, the Healthy Run project, which involved running together on Saturday mornings, will continue as a second-half program from September to October.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, "We are promoting a specialized Healthy Run project unique to Gangnam-gu that reflects the demands of the MZ generation, who pursue a healthy lifestyle and value their own experiences," adding, "We will lead a local community centered on running optimized for moderate exercise to support the healthy and vibrant daily lives of our residents."
