However, it is known that Representative Park Gyun-taek, who is a member of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, will submit a resignation due to difficulties in concurrently holding the position of lawyer.

Earlier, Lee is accused of conspiring with Lee Hwa-young, former Deputy Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province, to have Kim Seong-tae, former chairman of the Ssangbangwool Group, make a payment to North Korea of 5 million dollars for the 'Hwanghae Province Smart Farm Support' project, which Gyeonggi Province had promised to pay to North Korea, from January to April 2019.

He is also accused of having Kim, the former chairman, pay 3 million dollars to North Korea from July 2019 to January 2020 under the pretext of protocol expenses for the governor's visit to North Korea, as requested by the North Korean side.

With this indictment, Lee will face a total of four trials (three at the Seoul Central District Court and one at the Suwon District Court). Previously, Lee Hwa-young, former Deputy Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province, who was indicted together on third-party bribery charges, was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison in the first trial for violating the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act and bribery under the Special Act related to the North Korea remittance case.
