KAIST announced on the 12th that it will hold the "Bio·Healthcare International Symposium" at COEX in Seoul on the 13th.
The symposium is organized to support domestic bio·healthcare startup companies. KAIST expects that global pharmaceutical companies such as Sanofi and Novartis will participate, providing opportunities for startups to attract investment, collaborate on global business, and expand their networks.
The symposium will feature keynote speeches from global big pharma and a special lecture on investment by M Ventures, Merck's corporate venture capital (CVC).
Brian Bronk, Head of Global Business Development at Sanofi, will deliver a speech titled "Sanofi's Products, Research-Stage Projects, and Partnerships to Deliver Innovation to Patients."
Following him, Dominic Ehrismann, Head of Research in the Immunology Division at Novartis, will share trends in new drug development in the global market under the theme "Novartis' New Drug Discovery Strategy and Process."
Oliver Hardick, an intrapreneur at M Ventures, will give a special lecture titled "Key Conditions for Startups Supported by Venture Capital to Build and Maximize Value."
Overseas speakers will also participate in panel discussions to discuss strategies for global investment attraction and ways to increase corporate value for bio·healthcare startups.
In particular, KAIST will provide one-on-one meetings and networking time between bio·healthcare startups and domestic and international investors to ensure the symposium serves as a practical opportunity for investment negotiations and global business collaboration.
Hyunmin Bae, Director of the KAIST Startup Institute, said, "We hope KAIST startups will use the symposium as an opportunity to explore cooperation plans with global pharmaceutical companies and investors and to increase their corporate value."
Meanwhile, the symposium is organized by the KAIST Startup Institute and sponsored by the Chungbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center. The symposium proceedings can be watched live from 1 p.m. on the 13th on the KAIST Startup Institute YouTube channel.
