Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon received an award from King Charles III of the United Kingdom for his efforts in addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.
According to the British BBC and other media, on the 11th (local time), Ban received the 'Charles III Harmony Award' from the King’s Foundation, the 'King's Foundation,' at St James's Palace in London. King Charles III personally attended the ceremony and presented the award to Ban.
The Harmony Award, presented for the first time this year, is given to individuals or organizations that have made long-term contributions to a harmonious world, in line with the mission of the King's Foundation. King Charles III stated, "This award was created for those who uphold the values supporting the King's Foundation's mission and my wish for a world living in harmony with nature," and paid tribute to Ban, the first recipient of the award.
Ban Ki-moon served as the UN Secretary-General from 2007 to 2016 and was highly praised for leading international efforts related to climate change, sustainable development, poverty, and inequality. Even after his retirement, he has continued his efforts for world peace and sustainable development as Vice Chair of the international group 'The Elders' and in other roles.
Meanwhile, David Beckham, an ambassador for the King's Foundation, also attended the ceremony. Jamie Oliver, a famous British chef who has campaigned against the use of processed foods in public school meals, received the 'Advocate of the Year' award.
